Emma Davis says 'I have always had a great love for the Scottish landscape as I grew up surrounded by beautiful countryside. My contemporary paintings are often personal. My moods and emotions about particular areas I'm painting, the strength of light and most importantly colour, influence the way that I work each day'
Following in the tradition of the Scottish colourists Davis uses colour and tone to express mood and atmosphere in her contemporary art. In 'Spring, Sutherland' pinks and purples blend across a soft and rounded landscape. Small jewel-like highlights of orange, lime green and turquoise add life and another dimension to this decorative and expressive painting.
Emma Davis does not shy away from using white and tones of white to create a landscape that appears magical and almost moonlit. This multi-media art work has a tactile quality with added texture created by the addition of different media.
