'Autumn Farm' is reminiscent of a 1930's ceramic or poster design. There is a warm and solid feel to the blocks of colour used to make up this expression of the Scottish landscape. McLaren carefully balances the solidity of the landscape with the fragility of swaying silver birch trees. Red-roofed crofter's cottages are seen to nestle safely in the shelter of the hills.
