Sylvia Antonsen is interested in the linear qualities of a subject. The boarding on beach huts and wooden boats provide a constant source of inspiration for her paintings. The painting is very still and calm.

She has a fascination with the seashore and the buildings found there. It is the texture and patina of the weathered building that is so carefully rendered in this painting. As in all Sylvia Antonsen paintings there is a sense of balance and completeness. The simple beauty of the boards that make up an old shed and the shades of white and blue used to describe it create a unity of form.

Typically Antonsen looks for interesting and unusual Architectural, Landscape and Marine subjects for her paintings. Her preferred British locations are areas in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Kent, Somerset, Sussex, Hampshire and Dorset.
