'Bournemouth' is an example of her interest in the quirky and unusual buildings found around the British coast. A series of white huts, each with a little path leading to it with no sign of any holiday-makers, the buildings are definitely the subject of this painting. We have no hint as to the contents of these huts, rather Sylvia Antonsen invites us to contemplate, with her, the form and stillness of these small buildings.

Sylvia Antonsen is interested in the linear qualities of a subject. The boarding on the white huts and repeating pattern of windows and doors contribute to the stillness and calm in this painting. The motionless huts are also contrasted with the towering billowing trees in the background. As in all Sylvia Antonsen paintings there is a sense of balance and completeness.
